My Path to Psychotherapy
During my undergraduate work at the University of Colorado, I was drawn to Carl Rogers, pioneer of client-centered therapy. This foundation proved to be the cornerstone of my practice.
My practice with mental health and addiction includes, CBT, DBT and psychodynamic therapy. This work includes examination of family history and the emotions we have attached to that history. We will focus on emotions and behavioral challenges, in order to create new emotionally satisfying experiences. To foster this progress, I strive to maintain a safe and calm environment, which honors the sacred client-therapist relationship, and is an integral tenet of the client-centered humanistic therapy model.
Today, my therapeutic methods are informed by current research on the brain and patterned thinking, and how both relate with our family of origin behaviors. This background understanding can serve to assist us in your therapeutic journey. Due to the abundance of research and resources, it is a great time to be active in the therapeutic community. I find satisfaction with the work of liberation from behaviors that cause suffering. I continue to value this work and the benefits of personal evolution.
